Ontario is moving to Stage 1 of the Provincial Reopening Plan on June 11
The province of Ontario announced June 7th that Ontario would be moving to the Stage 1 of the Ontario Reopening Plan with a focus on resuming limited outdoor activities with smaller crowds where the risk of transmission is lower, and permitting limited retail with restrictions.
Good News for Restaurants
This announcement comes with good news for restaurants who have under the current lockdown measures have only been able to provide takeout options for their customers.
Within Stage 1 masks and social distancing will continue to be required but most notably it allows outdoor patio dining of up to four people per table with restrictions:
- Wait staff will still be required to use eye protection in addition to their masks when they are serving patrons who are not wearing masks.
- Staff working indoors must also wear face coverings unless they can maintain at least 2 meters apart.
Good News for Retail Businesses
Within Stage 1 masks and social distancing will continue to be required indoors but non-essential retails businesses can begin reopening to allow customers to shop in-store 15% capacity and 25% capacity for essential retail.

Good News for Day Camps and Campgrounds
Within Stage 1 Day Camps, Campgrounds and RV Resorts can begin reopening. Masks and social distancing and mask will continue to be required for campers if they are within the 2 meters of each other.
Regular Covid precautions should also be taken to ensure frequently used surfaces are disinfectant regularly, and hand sanitizers and hand soaps are easily available to patrons and staff.
